Within the framework of Argentina’s presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), in collaboration with the Israeli Embassy in the Netherlands, we organized an event to raise awareness and foster reflection that brought together members of the local IHRA chapter, Dutch officials, and diplomatic representatives from the countries that are members of the Alliance.
The IHRA is an intergovernmental organization that brings together governments and experts to promote Holocaust education, research, and remembrance worldwide, as well as the fight against antisemitism.
The handover of the presidency from Israel to Argentina took place on March 18 in Buenos Aires. The Argentine presidency, which has a term of one year and is guided by the motto “Expanding the Frontiers of Memory", marks a milestone for the organization as it is the first time a South American country has taken on this responsibility.
By assuming and exercising the IHRA Presidency, Argentina reaffirms its commitment to education, research, and the preservation of the memory of the Holocaust and the fight against antisemitism, with the aim of ensuring that its lessons continue to resonate across borders and generations.
