The Argentinean bandoneonist and composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) was a great innovator of tango. For this film, Piazzolla's son Daniel draws from the family's private collection. Rare footage of numerous performances and intimate home videos, supplemented with archival material, sketch a lively portrait of Piazzolla: bold, confident, passionate, and a virtuoso pure and simple. Prior to the film, bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof and pianist Juan Pablo Dobal pay tribute to the master.
De Argentijnse bandoneonist en componist Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992) was de grote vernieuwer van de tango. Voor deze film put zoon Daniel uit de privécollectie. Unieke beelden van talloze optredens en intieme familiefilmpjes, aangevuld met archiefmateriaal, schetsen een levendig portret van Piazzolla: zelfverzekerd, eigengereid, gepassioneerd en een virtuoso pur sang. Voorafgaand aan de film brengen bandoneonist Carel Kraayenhof en pianist Juan Pablo Dobal een ode aan de grootmeester.
