Tourism promotion

Tourism is one of the main economic activities and a sector of sustained growth in terms of foreign exchange earnings, stimulating investment in infrastructure and job creation, according to the World Tourism Organization (WTO).

For the Argentine Republic, income from international tourism has made this activity one of the five leading sectors for exports of goods and services.

For this reason, and in order to optimize the promotion of Argentina's tourism offer in foreign markets, cooperation mechanisms have been implemented between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Tourism through coordination between the National Institute for Tourism Promotion (Inprotur), the Directorate for Tourism Support and Investment Promotion, and the diplomatic and consular representations abroad.

Main functions of the Directorate for Tourism Support and Investment Promotion in tourism promotion activities:

Coordinate with Inprotur on tourism promotion activities abroad..

Coordinate with Argentine diplomatic missions on the formulation of tourism promotion activities.

Support the tourism promotion activities carried out by the National Institute for

Tourism Promotion (Inprotur).

In this line of action, the following corresponds to the representations abroad:

Prepare reports on market characteristics..

Establish contact with tour operators..

Organize seminars and workshops..

Participate in trade fairs and exhibitions..

Establish contact with local specialized journalists..

Organize business rounds for tour operators..

Disseminate tourism promotion material..

Establish contacts with industry associations.

Provide information about publications and newspaper articles from Argentina.
